Satellite antenna

The three basic types of satellite antenna are linear conductors, waveguides and reflectors. For high gain applications, reflectors are the better option. These reflectors are simple and less in weight. Parabolic reflectors are widely used in spacecraft antennas. The combination of frequency and beam widths required for satellite (communication), inter-planetary probes and other requirements in spacecraft research needs antenna with a diameter about 9m. A reflector can be supported by a system of ribs or cables. Ribs, either in rigid or flexible form, are connected to telescopes. Mechanical deployment required if the reflector is rigid.
